Car Hire & Driving in Cyprus

Hiring a car is strongly recommended, especially if you want to get out and see some of the out of the way places such as the Troodos mountains and Akamas. The main roads are generally good, but when you go exploring don't be surpised if the tarmac disappears and you end up driving down a dirt track. For this reason the optional windscreen and tyre cover offered by car hire companies is recommended.
If you do plan to explore the island by car, we would also suggest that you hire a 4WD type vehicle and not a saloon car which can be very easily damaged on the rough track roads.

Cyprus follows the British driving system and drive on the left. The speed limit on motoways is 100 km/h (62 mph), and you will see speed camera signs along route. The speed limit on ordinary roads is 80 km/h (50 mph), and in built up areas it's 50 km/h (31 mph). Distances are in km (10km is approx 6.2 miles), and road signs usually appear in both English and Greek.

Front seat belts are compulsory, and children under 5 are not permitted to sit in the front. Drivers must be over 21.

There are many car hire companies in Paphos, but our favourite is EasyRentaCarLtd. We've used them for many years and their prices and service are exceptionally good.

Prices are not available on their web site, but you will receive a prompt response from George & Kula by completing their online enquiry form, email them directly, or by phoning them on +357-26813244. It may also help if you mention my name when enquiring (i.e. Mark Turner).

Note that Easyrentacar are not related in any way to the very well known Easy group of companies set up by that well known Greek entrepreneur Stelios.
